“Thanks to the support, I was able to pull myself together and take a step forward. Now I have a sense of stability and the belief that things will get better,” says 52-year-old Tetiana from Avdiivka.
Because of the war, she and her family were forced to move to Kamianske. Together with her husband and his father, who is bedridden and requires constant care, they settled in a rented apartment. Over time, the rent increased to the point that the family could no longer afford it. Ongoing medical expenses, the lack of a stable income, and tension in their relationship with the landlords created a real risk of eviction. Tetiana was living in a state of anxiety and uncertainty, but despite this, she continued looking for additional work and ways to support her family. It was then that she turned to NGO Girls for help.
Through case management, Tetiana received comprehensive support: cash assistance for renting new housing and relocating, accompaniment to a medical facility, legal referral to a partner organization, and consultations on human rights and the prevention of gender-based violence. The female specialists also helped Tetiana learn to use online services and complete the necessary documents independently. At the same time, work on restoring her psychological resources continued, which gradually helped her regain a sense of control over her own life.
“By observing Tetiana, I also began to learn a great deal—from her resilience and her ability to find balance even in difficult circumstances,” shares the case manager.
Eventually, Tetiana’s situation stabilized, both in her daily life and emotionally. She returned to her usual rhythm of life and found a source of support in simple everyday things.
