On 5 November 2025, Yuliya Sporysh, PhD, Founder and Director of NGO Girls, took part in the high-level discussion “Women, Peace and Security at a Crossroads: Funding, Localising and Reclaiming the Next 25 Years” held at the European Parliament.
The event was organised by UN Women, the European Institute of Peace (EIP) and PAX, and co-hosted by Abir Al-Sahlani MEP, Evin Incir MEP, and Hannah Neumann MEP, with moderation by Sandra Melone (Search for Common Ground Europe and Elles du Sahel).
The discussion brought together women activists, policymakers, and experts from Iraq, Sudan, Armenia, and Ukraine to explore the future of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda in a world facing wars, inequality, and global fatigue from crises.
“More than 75,000 women serve in the Armed Forces, yet 95 safe spaces for women have closed due to lack of funding. Gender-based violence has risen by 25% annually, while women-led organisations working on the frontlines receive almost no financial support,” — said Yuliya Sporysh, Founder and Director of NGO Girls.
For NGO GIRLS, participation in such international dialogues is an opportunity to bring the voices and realities of Ukrainian women to the global stage. Ukrainian women are not only in need of support — they provide it every day: protecting, helping, rebuilding.
