Yulia Sporysh, director of the NGO Divchata, took part in a workshop on localization in mine action, which took place on February 3, 2026, in Kyiv.
The meeting was devoted to one of the challenges in the humanitarian sphere in Ukraine: strengthening the role of national operators in the field of humanitarian demining and creating conditions for their more full participation in international processes — an issue that has a direct impact on the safety of communities and the restoration of territories after hostilities.

At the beginning of the event, the results of an assessment of the capacity of Ukrainian national mine action operators were presented. In particular, experts identified key gaps in technical expertise and organizational structure.
The discussion focused on two main areas: how to make funding more accessible to Ukrainian organizations and how to promote their ability to compete with international operators. The goal is to build capacity that will eventually reduce dependence on external structures and strengthen national mine action capabilities.
As part of the event, Yulia also participated in a panel discussion dedicated to the presentation of successful partnerships in the field of mine action and related areas.
Participation in this dialogue underscored the importance of a professional, practice-oriented approach by Ukrainian civil society organizations in the field of security.
The event continues a series of initiatives aimed at developing the national mine action sector, including needs assessments, training programs, and the development of operators' managerial and technical skills. This is part of a long-term approach to security, independence, and sustainable community recovery in Ukraine.
