The NGO Girls, with the support of International Child Development Initiatives and in consortium with LHSH, Fundacja PRO-FIL and Opora Foundation, announces the project E-mpower Youth. Building digital resilience and preventing online gender-based violence.
The project is focused on improving the digital well-being of young Ukrainian refugees and internally displaced youth (IDY) aged 12-18 in Ukraine, Poland, and the Netherlands. The initiative aims to empower these youths to safely navigate the digital world, prevent online gender-based violence (GBV), and promote their emotional and psychological health. The project fosters active participation from young people, caregivers, and communities to build resilience against online risks, with a specific focus on marginalized youth, including girls, LGBTIQ youth, and Roma.
Geography of the project. Ukraine, Poland and the Netherlands
Duration of the project. 01.04.2025 –31.05.2027
Objective. The primary objective of E-mpowerYouth is to enhance the digital safety of displaced youth by developing and implementing gender-sensitive tools that prevent, recognize, and address online GBV. The project aims to raise awareness about online safety, build media literacy, and empower youth and their caregivers to understand and manage the risks associated with online violence. Through tailored resources, workshops, and interactive platforms, the project intends to create a supportive environment where vulnerable youth can confidently engage with the digital world while reducing the risk of GBV.
Activities:
Development of E-mpowerYouth Toolbox: Revision of key topics and issues on online GBV, mapping of resources for referral in each of the 3 countries and developing the content of the Toolbox.
Capacity Building: development of an E-mpowerYouth Toolbox Manual and ToT materials to prepare organisations on how to use the resources developed. Also it includes the delivery of an ToT aimed at the implementing partner organisations to be used in each country.
Mainstreaming of the Toolbox: pilot the online and face-to-face content of the E-mpowerYouth Toolbox Manual and the final adaptation to the Toolbox based on the findings of the piloting process.
Systematization and dissemination: develop a communication strategy and guidelines, creating materials for a media campaign targeting youth, caregivers, and organizations working with Ukrainian youth, and organizing both national and international multiplier events to promote the project’s outcomes.
Training: conducting online training sessions for external organizations to encourage the adoption of the E-mpowerYouth Toolbox and presenting findings on gaps in preventing online GBV across Poland, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.
