NGO Girls is launching a leadership development and women’s support component within the “She Demines” programme.
The programme aims to strengthen women’s participation in humanitarian mine action and emergency services, reduce barriers to entering the profession, and enhance psychological resilience.
Project goal
To expand women’s opportunities through a combination of psychosocial support, resilience-building, financial literacy, career guidance, and training. The programme addresses key barriers such as fear, gender stereotypes, lack of information, and limited support, which prevent women from considering mine action and related sectors as viable career paths.
Geography
Online and offline in Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Sumy regions.
Who is this project for?
Women interested in exploring or starting a career in mine action and emergency services
Women experiencing high levels of stress, burnout, or in need of psychosocial support
Members of women’s rights organizations (WRO) and employment center staff
Professionals supporting women in communities, including psychologists, social workers, and career counsellors
Employers in the humanitarian mine action implementing gender-sensitive practices
Project objectives
Provide comprehensive psychosocial support to prevent burnout and strengthen resilience
Increase economic confidence through financial literacy training
Offer career guidance and support women in identifying career pathways
Support women through individual and group employment coaching
Strengthen the capacity of women’s organizations through targeted training programmes
Conduct an advocacy campaign engaging employers to promote women’s participation in mine action
Development of a knowledge product for employers and civil society organizations with actionable recommendations on inclusive hiring and workplace practices, and success stories of women and organizations engaged in the programme, illustrating pathways into mine action and other non-traditional professions.

Psychological support through individual consultations and group sessions
Training on resilience, stress management, and prevention of emotional burnout
Online financial literacy modules to build confidence in personal resources
Career guidance sessions on opportunities in mine action and emergency services
Coaching on CV writing, motivation letters, and job interviews
Capacity-building for women’s organizations to support women at the community level
Engagement with employers to promote inclusive working conditions and expand access to technical professions
Development of a practical resource for employers and civil society organizations with recommendations on inclusive hiring and workplace practices, and success stories of women entering non-traditional sectors and organizations employing them.
